John brings over 35 years Civil Engineering and IT management and support experience to the firm. John’s Civil Engineering experience includes a combination of Roadway Design, Storm Sewer Design, Traffic Control, Traffic Signing and Illumination, Airport Design, Land Surveying, Site Development and Design. John’s project experience includes Roadway Design Projects, Airport Runway and Taxiway Design Projects, Commercial/Retail sites.

John worked for TxDOT for over 26 years and served as TxDOT’s CAD Manager for over 10 years overseeing the customization, configuration, implementation and support of engineering software within TxDOT’s enterprise. John’s Engineering IT management and support experience includes managing large scale software implementation projects, providing solutions for Civil Engineering clients including personalized software training, customized software implementation, and remote software support for every phase of the PS&E package from preliminary to final design.

John also brings a wealth of Architectural experience that includes, Single-Family Residential Design, Multi-Family Duplex and Fourplex Design, as well as Commercial Design and Site Planning.

Rene brings over 39 years of experience in transportation (highway/roadway), light rail and land development design, including over 28 years of experience with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and is a Texas Licensed Professional Engineer. He has most recently worked in the transportation private consultant arena, since retiring from TxDOT, to primarily build business development and foster client relationships with prospective and current city, state, and county agencies throughout Texas. Rene has also provided project management services and mentoring of engineering and technical staff.

Prior to his TxDOT retirement, Rene served as the TxDOT Director of the Design Division, with the responsibility for directing and overseeing design criteria and standards; QA/QC design review in cooperation with FHWA and other federal/state agencies; managing the development and processing of a $6B statewide annual construction letting for transportation projects. He was the Department’s program sponsor for implementing 3D engineering design model software and the data management tool, ProjectWise.

Rene is a musician at heart and enjoys listening to live music in downtown Austin, Texas! He is also an avid sports fan and enjoys playing golf in his spare time.

Joel brings over 7 years of Civil Engineering experience to the Mesa. Joel began his career with the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Plan Development Section. Joel’s work included building 3D Models and Roadway Design PS&E sets for several TxDOT Districts. Joel’s projects ranged from bridge replacement jobs to a state park rehabilitation. Most notably, Joel wrote and developed TxDOT’s Open Roads Training (DES 727 3D) and Manual detailing standards of practice in 3D Modeling for the State of Texas. Afterwards, Joel spent over a year traveling around the state and providing personalized Bentley OpenRoads software training to all of TxDOT’s 25 districts.

Upon leaving TxDOT, Joel continued to expand his project experience in the private sector by leading state and municipal PS&E work as a Roadway Design Engineer. His experience includes Roadway Design, Storm Sewer Design, Signing and Pavement Marking Design, Retaining Wall design, and Traffic Control. Joel is proficient with OpenRoads, MicroStation, MS Project, GEOPAK Drainage, and ConceptStation.

Ricky brings over 5 years of Civil Engineering experience to the firm. He holds an Applied Science degree in Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Designed (Civil Specialization) from Austin Community College. Ricky’s experience includes working on varies projects using MicroStation and AutoCAD. Ricky’s Civil Engineering experience includes Roadway and Bridge Design, with experience in structural detailing, designed visualization, aesthetics, and 3D modeling.

Zeke brings 13 years of business management experience including staff development, marketing and leadership. He holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Management from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Zeke is also a certified Bentley trainer for MicroStation and provides personalized training for our Civil Engineer clients.

Juan brings over 35 years of diversified experience in both Transportation Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) and related IT CADD user support industries within the government and private sectors.

Juan worked as IT CADD Support Team member with the Dow Chemical Company, as an Engineering Technician with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), as CADD Technical Support with Turner Collie & Braden. Juan was also a member of the corporate CADD steering committee at PB with a focus on global CADD strategy, user support, and development of CADD user career ladder. In previous years Juan also worked with other small engineering firms in an Engineering Technician capacity whose primary client was the City of Houston, infrastructure projects.

At the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Juan served as an Engineering Design Technician and Engineering Design Group CADD Advisor, and later joined the Houston District IT CADD Support Team. Juan’s role included implementation of Austin (Division) IT CADD policy and procedures for Engineering CADD workstation and related applications. He also supported an out-of-box CAD software such as Bentley’s MicroStation product line and TxDOT proprietary tools.

Juan and his wife enjoy spending time with his family, friends, and five grandchildren.

Mark brings over 25 years of Engineering and Customer Support experience to Mesa Integrated Solutions. Mark holds an Applied Science degree in Engineering Graphics from Temple College. Mark has worked in both the private and public sectors, with 17 years of service at TxDOT in Civil Design, project management, and access/utility permitting management. His years of experience include managing collaborative efforts with TxDOT, local municipalities, and consulting firms within the Civil Design Industry. Mark was certified in the Local Government Projects and Procedures process while at TxDOT. His focus on Customer Support while guiding projects through the project development, design, and letting process brings a unique skill set to the Mesa team.
